Let’s talk tyres… 🛞 Here’s an insight into what goes in to preparing the wheels and tyres of the Pata Prometeon Yamaha R1: After arriving at the circuit and setting up, the tyre techs will give the rims a clean and quick check over (any involved in an incident will have been crack tested back at base). Then, they head to Pirelli to pick up their initial tyres for the weekend. Pirelli fit these to the rims, and then balance the wheel. Once back in the garage, the guys will set the cold pressure and double check the balancing. Weight will be added, removed, or distributed where necessary. Then it’s back on the tyre rack, where the warmer is set to 100 degrees a minimum of two hours before the tyre may be used. Ahead of the rider going out, the techs will check and set the pressure before the wheel goes in the bike and the rider rolls down pit lane 😁 08/05/2024
