The National QR Payment Promotion Initiative was officially launched at the Presidential Secretariat — a significant step towards accelerating a cash-lite economy.

This is more than just a technology rollout. It is about:
• Driving digital payments adoption across the country with P2P and P2M.
• Bringing the informal economy into the formal ecosystem
• Enabling a more inclusive and efficient financial system.

As we work towards building a USD 15Bn digital economy, initiatives like this will play a critical role — especially in empowering SMEs, agriculture, and everyday transactions.

Great to see strong alignment across CBSL, banks, FIs, telcos, and the government to take this forward.

Let’s collectively drive adoption and make QR a truly simple, accessible, and everyday payment method for all.
