If anyone has ever read Game of Thrones, they would know about the Iron Throne, the seat upon which the ruler of the seven kingdoms reigned. Made from the melted swords of the ‘enemies’ that once fought the king, the iron throne is well known to be a very uncomfortable seat. Yet, if a king or a queen were to rule, they must sit on this painful seat.

Before the ‘Lankan Way’, the common man of Sri Lanka had all the pain of the throne, yet none of the power. The power was held by the corrupt, rich and men without principles, with none of the pain or the responsibility.

On the onset of the Aragalaya, a foundation was laid for the Lankan Way. A new system of thinking that fused the depth of eastern thinking with the science of the west. But the Lankans knew that new principles cannot be built upon rotten systems. The Sri Lankan constitution had to be changed.

People, who had realised their power by then, fought hard to bring in the new constitution. They knew it was not easy, but 100 days of protests had toned every Lankan to fight for what they deserved. With blood, sweat and tears, they won.

Several decades later, from solving the climate crisis to implementing diplomatic solutions, the Lankan Way shaped the world. Instead of clinging to the vanity of 2500 years of history, Lankans learnt to make history, and take the world forward with them.

There was no corrupt sitting on the throne anymore, there was no pain for the common man. With the Lankan Way, the throne was broken to pieces. Its parts were used to build the new Lanka.
