During his visit to MAG’s demining operations in Mundru Murippu, Mullaitivu District, the Australian High Commissioner reaffirmed Australia’s strong support and solidarity with humanitarian mine action efforts in Sri Lanka.

Witnessing firsthand the dedication and professionalism of MAG’s field teams, he commended the life-changing impact of their work in clearing contaminated land and restoring safe access for communities affected by conflict. He highlighted that humanitarian demining is essential not only for saving lives, but also for enabling sustainable development, strengthening livelihoods, and supporting long-term economic recovery across the Northern Province.

“Australia stands with MAG and the communities you serve,” he stated, expressing sincere appreciation to all staff and reaffirming Australia’s continued commitment to supporting Sri Lanka’s journey towards a mine-free future.

முல்லைத்தீவு மாவட்டத்தின் மூன்றுமுறிப்பில் உள்ள MAG இன் கண்ணிவெடி அகற்றும் நடவடிக்கைகளை பார்வையிட்ட போது, இலங்கையில் மனிதாபிமான கண்ணிவெடி அகற்றல் பணிகளுக்கு ஆஸ்திரேலிய உயர்ஸ்தானிகர் ஆஸ்திரேலியாவின் உறுதியான ஆதரவும் ஒருமைப்பாட்டையும் மீண்டும் உறுதிப்படுத்தினார்.

MAG களப் பணியாளர்களின் அர்ப்பணிப்பு மற்றும் தொழில்முறைத் திறனை நேரில் கண்ட அவர், மோதலால் பாதிக்கப்பட்ட சமூகங்களுக்கு ஆபத்தான நிலங்களை சுத்தம் செய்து, மீண்டும் பாதுகாப்பான முறையில் ஒப்படைப்பது அதிமுக்கியமாகும். மனிதாபிமான கண்ணிவெடி அகற்றல் என்பது உயிர்களை காப்பாற்றுவதற்கே ஆகும். நிலையான வளர்ச்சி, வாழ்வாதார மேம்பாடு மற்றும் வட மாகாணத்தின் நீண்டகால பொருளாதார மீட்சிக்காகவும் அத்தியாவசியமானது என அவர் வலியுறுத்தினார்.

“ஆஸ்திரேலியா MAG மற்றும் நீங்கள் சேவை செய்யும் சமூகங்களுடன் நிற்கிறது,” என அவர் தெரிவித்தார். அனைத்து பணியாளர்களுக்கும் தனது மனமார்ந்த நன்றியை தெரிவித்து, இலங்கையை கண்ணிவெடி இல்லாத நாடாக மாற்றும் பயணத்திற்கு ஆஸ்திரேலியா தொடர்ந்தும் ஆதரவளிக்கும் என உறுதிப்படுத்தினார்.
