There is no doubt that the most magnificent marine mammals living on the earth are whales. These mammals are unique, beautiful, skilled and mysterious. Despite living in the water, they are air-breathing mammals. And just like humans, they are warm-blooded and nurse their young.

Sri Lanka's waters are rich in marine life, and among the most notable occurrences is the annual migratory presence of one of the world's most magnificent sea creatures, the Blue Whale.

Head out on a whale-watching tour and it's extremely likely you’ll be rewarded with sightings of blue, s***m, Humpback and Bryde’s whales. In fact, Sri Lanka ranks in the top two or three countries in the world to see them.
