Ministry of Crab has once again partnered with us to help yet another vulnerable school, this time from the Nawagattegama area, North Western Province.

Through a generous pledge of USD 12,000, their partnership will provide IT equipment, musical instruments, and sports equipment to Ana/Inginimitiya Maha Vidyalaya in Anamaduwa. The school has 345 students currently.

World Vision commenced a milestone initiative - Shiksha/Kalvi project to transform 50 vulnerable schools in 50 weeks focusing on improving school facilities and building better learning environments for students.

Ministry of Crab’s first project with us provided a fully equipped IT lab to a school in Kalpitiya making digital education accessible to 415 students.

Thank you Ministry of Crab for your generosity!

Here’s something exciting for youth in the Western and Central Provinces of Sri Lanka!

1,500 young people will get the chance to build confidence, grow their leadership skills, and take an active role in their communities through a project funded by the German Government (BMZ).

This project is implemented in partnership with the Centre for Social Concern, T-Field Child Development Federation, and Good Shepherd Convent.

Through World Vision’s IMPACT+ model, youth will come together to learn, connect, and grow. They will also receive career guidance and job readiness support, while being encouraged to raise their voices through Citizen Voice and Action (CVA) and advocacy.

And the impact is already proven! In the past:
Over 1,000 youth built confidence and leadership skills,
More than 800 gained job-ready skills,
959 received career guidance,
And 175 youth-led community projects created real change.

Together We Rise project Launch Live

In the coastal villages of Vaharai and Muthur, most families rely on fishing and aquaculture for their daily livelihood.

The 2025 indebtedness assessment by our EMPOWER Project revealed that over 70% of debt-affected households are fisherfolk.

"Many families in our village turned to high-interest microloans just to survive after the displacements. But those loans only pushed us deeper into debt," says Vimaleshwary from Sampoor.

To help them understand the vicious cycle of debt and to help them break free of it through good financial practices such as saving, the project conducts street drama in all 32 villages.

"This street drama has allowed our people already struggling with loans to think differently, start saving, and find a better path for the future," said by Vimaleshwary.

Children, youth, and adults actively participate in these awareness events, while leaflets are distributed to reinforce key messages.

By using storytelling and community dialogue, the street dramas make financial awareness simple, relatable, and accessible for everyone.
