Nalanda OBA – Annual General Meeting 2026

Nalanda Old Boys' Association held their Annual General Meeting at the Malalasekera Hall of the College on 07 June 2026.

Opening of the Centenary Commemorative Monument of Nalanda 07th June 2026

On a request made by the Principal, Nalanda OBA constructed a Centenary Commemorative Monument, just inside the entrance gate of the college from Kityakara Road, to be visible to any one entering the college or the Malalasekera Hall.

This commemorative monument was declared open by the Principal on 07th June , together with Mr Kassapa Mahendra de Silva, past Executive President of Nalanda OBA, who was also the Chief Guest at the Annual General Meeting of the Association held the same evening. This area is to be named “the Centenary Park” to signify the importance of this monument.

President of Old Nalandians’ Sports Club Mr Dinuka Chandraratne, Executive President of the OBA Mr Mohan Gunadasa and other officials of the OBA were also present on this occasion,

The correct date of Nalanda’s commencement as a separate school has been established by the Nalanda History Restoration Committee, that was appointed by the OBA comprising of Dr Sidath Waidyasekera as its Chairman Mr Mohanlal Piyadasa (Secretary) Mr Victor Suriyabandara , late Mr Athula Jayasekera and Mr Varuna Ratnaweera,

The OBA is thankful to them for establishing the correct milestone, having perused all relevant documents and studied the historical facts and also to our Deputy Organiser Mr Prasanna Subasinghe and Asst Secretary Mr Ruchitha Wijegunawardana for their efforts in implementing this projec

කීර්තිමත් ආදි නාලන්දීය මේජර් ජෙනරාල් ආනන්ද වීරසේකර (සසුන් ගත විමෙන් පසු පූජ්‍ය බුද්ධංගල ආනන්ද හිමි) පුත් නැසීගිය ගුවන් නියමු සුරාජ් සංජීව වීරසේකර සොහොයුරාගේ (89 කණ්ඩායම) සුරාජ් වීරසේකර භාරය විසින් නාලන්දා විද්‍යාලයේ නේවාසිකාගාරය ප්‍රතිසංස්කරණ කිරීම භාර ගන්නා ලදි. එම භාරයේ අධ්‍යක්ෂක වෛද්‍ය මනෝජ් වීරසේකර (90 කණ්ඩායම) සොහොයුරා විසින් ප්‍රතිසංස්කරණ කටයුතු සිදු කරන දමිත් ඉරෝෂන් මහතා සමග ප්‍රතිසංස්කරණ අවබෝදතා ගිවිසුම අස්සන් තබන ලදී.

සුරාජ් වීරසේකර භාරය මගින් රුපියල් මිලියන 8 ක මුදලක් වැය කරමින් නේවාසිකාගාරයේ ප්‍රතිසංස්කරණ කටයුතු නිම කිරීමට නියමිතයි.

ප්‍රසන්න සුභසිංහ යන සොහොයුරන් විසින් සිදු කරනු ඇත. Nalanda College Hostel Renovation Project Undertaken by the Suraj Weerasekera Trust

The Suraj Weerasekera Trust, established in memory of the late Capt. Suraj Sanjeewa Weerasekera (Nalanda 1989 Group), son of distinguished past Nalandian Major General Ananda Weerasekera (who later ordained as Ven. Buddangala Ananda Thero), has undertaken the responsibility of renovating the hostel of Nalanda College.
An agreement of understanding relating to the renovation project was signed between Dr. Manoj Weerasekera (Nalanda 1990 Group), Director of the Suraj Weerasekera Trust, and Mr. Damith Iroshan, who will be undertaking the renovation work.
The Suraj Weerasekera Trust has committed a sum of Rs. 8 million towards the completion of this hostel renovation project.
At the invitation of the Trust, work of this project will be coordinated by the following Nalandians:
