On this International Women’s Day, the Ceylon Bank Employees’ Union (CBEU) raises its voice in proud salute to our women comrades — the strength, discipline, and conscience of our movement.

Under this year’s theme, “Give & Gain,” we affirm a fundamental truth of trade unionism:

Our sisters in the banking sector give their labour, skill, integrity, and relentless commitment. They stand firm against exploitation, resist discrimination, and speak boldly for justice in every branch and every department.

And through the organized power of our Union, they must gain —

✔ Safe and dignified workplaces
✔ Protection from harassment and discrimination
✔ Leadership space within the movement
✔ Respect that matches their contribution

A woman worker is not merely an employee of a bank —
She is a pillar of the economy, a defender of working-class rights, and a driving force of collective progress.

Today, we pledge not just appreciation, but action.
Not just words, but struggle.
Not just recognition, but transformation.

For every ounce of strength our sisters give to this movement, they shall gain double in rights, recognition, and revolutionary opportunity.
