Carvings on the outer walls of the Lankathilaka temple. This idol house has a long history of 850 years. [1153 – 1186 Lankatilaka was built by Maha Parakramabahu and this is the statue of Lankatilaka who leased a tilaka to Sri Lanka. A pilimage belonging to the genus Gedi. This is the largest temple built in ancient Sri Lanka. The huge statue inside and the pair of tall towers on both sides of the entrance clearly show the size of this place. There is little evidence that the exterior and exterior walls were decorated with paintings. The resulting sculptures on the outer walls show karmic South Indian influence.] copyright
