A Moment of Reflection: CICT’s Annual Pirith Ceremony 2026

On 20th and 21st March, CICT gathered to observe its Annual Pirith Chanting and Almsgiving Ceremony, upholding a meaningful tradition that embodies spiritual mindfulness and a shared sense of purpose rooted in tradition and unity.

As Pirith chanting carried through the night, it filled the surroundings with a sense of calm and quiet reflection, creating a unique atmosphere within the terminal. At dawn, the offering of alms to Buddhist monks marked a continuation of this spirit of gratitude and compassion.

Even as we power global trade and keep the world connected, moments like these remind us that beyond the movement of trade lies a deeper foundation of values grounding us in resilience, harmony, and a collective sense of direction as we move forward together.

CICT is honoured to collaborate with the Wildlife and Nature Protection Society of Sri Lanka (WNPS) on a three-year environmental conservation project (2025–2028) to protect sea turtles and restore coastal health along the Colombo Port City, Mount Lavinia coastline.

• Turtle nest and hatchling protection
• Coastal revegetation and climate resilience
• Volunteer, school, and community engagement

“As a gateway to global trade, CICT recognizes its responsibility to protect the environment that surrounds us. This partnership with WNPS is an investment in long-term ecological resilience,” said CEO Jan Zhang.

Together, we are safeguarding Sri Lanka’s coastal heritage.
