Volunteer Support for Flood-Affected Community in Kalugala

The volunteer team conducted a field visit to Kalugala, a remote community located approximately 70 km from Kandy, which was severely impacted by recent flooding.
In response to the immediate educational needs of affected families, essential school supplies—including exercise books, school bags, lunch boxes, and water bottles—were distributed to school children. This intervention aimed to support access to education and restore a sense of normalcy amid post-disaster challenges.
Sustainable recovery begins with supporting the next generation.

As part of the continued flood recovery initiatives in the Kandy region, youth volunteers demonstrated exceptional leadership and civic responsibility by mobilizing collective community action 🙏 In close collaboration with local residents, volunteers undertook the cleaning and restoration of a flood-affected school, transforming it into a safe and functional learning environment 🌿

This initiative reflects the strength of community solidarity and highlights the critical role of youth in driving resilient, people-centered recovery efforts~! United in purpose, Stronger in action, We are one 🤍

IPYG volunteers proudly contributed to the success of the HWPL peace program series (22.11.2025) - “Peace Education Blossoming from Buddha’s Teachings” by supporting various preparation and coordination activities. 🌱

Together, we continue to empower youth with the wisdom and practice of peace.

Peace Camp & Youth Engagement in Kandy

As an IPYG Peace Ambassador, NYSC Kandy remains committed to providing meaningful opportunities that promote youth development and peacebuilding.

Recently, a Peace Camp was conducted in collaboration with Economic Development Welfare Foundation, under the leadership of Mr. Muhammedu Nawab Mohamed Thusan, a Board Member of EDWF. The program enabled youth in Kandy to participate in peace education and value-based activities in collaboration with HWPL and the international youth organization IPYG. United under the guiding spirit of “We Are One,” participants deepened their understanding of peace, shared values, and social responsibility.

IPYG Sri Lanka, together with HWPL, was proud to take part in the Matara Youth Sports Meet Fest 2025, organised by the NYSC Matara Youth Federation Youth Club Welipitiya . Our booth featured engaging youth activities and opportunities to register for Korean language learning, creating excitement among the energetic and talented participants. 🇰🇷📚✨

As part of our support for the event, HWPL also sponsored and distributed HWPL T-shirts, symbolising unity, peace, and encouragement for youth participation in positive community initiatives. 👕💙

The event became a meaningful platform for connection, cultural exchange, and youth empowerment. We sincerely thank the organisers and all participants for making this a memorable and impactful experience.

Celebrating Peace & Inclusion: HWPL at the ESCO Peace Art Exhibition

The ESCO Peace Art Exhibition (08.27-38) gathered over 400 children, teachers, and parents to celebrate peace, creativity, and inclusion. HWPL volunteers supported the event through setup, logistics, trilingual communication, and hosting—and were honoured with a special recognition from the ESCO Chairman.
This meaningful collaboration also opened the way for an upcoming MoU.

IPYG, together with IWPG, serves as the two wings of HWPL, leading the way for youth to take the initiative in achieving peace.
