COMPASS '18 22/10/2018

COMPASS '18 National Chemical and Process Engineering Conference organized by Department of Chemical and Process Engineering, University of Moratuwa was successfully held on 9th of October 2018 at BMICH. It was conducted under the theme 'Productivity and Efficiency through process engineering' covering three main topics; 'Process Safety', 'Value Added Waste' and 'Process optimization and energy recovery'. The event was able to bridge the gap between industry and undergraduates by discussing the real problems that prevail in the industry. The conference was enlighten with the presence of Chief guest Mr. Kulatunga Rajapaksha, Guest of Honour Mr. Dhammika Welhenge and many other distinguished guests including industry, academia and undergraduates along with 300+ participants.

Our Story

“COMPASS” is the Annual National Chemical and Process Engineering Conference organized by the Department of Chemical and Process Engineering of University of Moratuwa to focus on addressing the current issues faced by the industry with the collaboration of Chemical and Process Engineering Undergraduates, representatives from the industry, academia and entrepreneurs.

Chemical and Process Engineers play key roles in many industries which ultimately leads to the sustainable development of a country. The Department of Chemical and Process Engineering (DCPE) of the University of Moratuwa, the leading body of producing Chemical and Process Engineers in Sri Lanka has a remarkable journey of producing high quality graduates to the industry as well as to the academic field.

The gathering anticipates bridging the gap between existing industrial practices and trending chemical engineering and process enhancement with an approach sustainable for a promising future. COMPASS 2018 will be held on 09th of October 2018 at BMICH, under the theme “Productivity and Efficiency through Process Engineering”. Key goals to be addressed under this theme are as follows.
