යුක්තිය අහිමි පාස්කු ප්‍රහාරයට වසර 07 ක්.

පාස්කු විමර්ශන වලට බාධා කරන සියලු බලවේග පිටුදකිමු යන මැයෙන් මහනුවර ක්‍රිස්තියානි එකමුතුව විසින් සංවිධානය කරන ලද විරෝධතා පා ගමන සහ යාඤා මෙහෙය අද (21) වන දින පැවැත්විණි. මෙම අවස්ථාවට ගරු ස්වාමීන්වහන්සේ, මව්ලොවිතුමන්, ගරු පියතුමන්ලා සහ කන්‍යා සොයුරියන් රැසක් සහභාගී වූ අතර අම්පිටිය ජාතික දෙව්සත්හලේ ඉගෙනුම ලබන සහෝදරවරුන්ද මෙම අවස්ථාවට එක් විය.

ගිහි පිරිස වශයෙන් සිවිල් සමාජ ක්‍රියාධරයින්, නීතීඥයින් සහ පාස්කු ප්‍රහාරයේ වින්දිත භාවයට පත් වූ මධ්‍යම පළාතේ පිරිසක් ද එක්ව සිටි අතර වසර 07 පුරා යුක්තිය ඉටු නොවීම පිළිබඳව පිරිස විරෝධතා පාගමනකට එක් විය.

විරෝධතා පා ගමන මහනුවර යහපත් එඬේරාගේ කන්‍යාරාමයෙන් ආරම්භ කළ පිරිස විරෝධතා පුවරු ප්‍රදර්ශනය කරමින් යුක්තිය කඩිනමින් ඉටු කිරීමේ අවශ්‍යතාවයත් විවිධ බලවේග විසින් විමර්ශන වලට බාධා පමුණුවන අදහසින් සිදු කරනු ලබන පළ කිරීම්, ප්‍රකාශ වළක්වා විමර්ශන වල ස්වාධීනතාවය ආරක්ෂා කළ යුතු බවත් අවධාරණය කරමින් පුවරු ප්‍රදර්ශනය කළහ.

පා ගමනින් ජෝර්ජ්. ඊ ද සිල්වා උද්‍යානය වෙත පැමිණි පිරිස එහිදී යාඤා මෙහෙයක් සහ පාස්කු ප්‍රහාරයෙන් මියගිය වින්දිතයින් සිහිපත් කිරීමක් සිදු කළ අතර ඉටි පන්දම් සහ මල් කුරුසිය පා මුල තබමින් මියගිය පිරිස අනුස්මරණයක කිරීම සුවිශේෂී සිදුවීමක් විය.

යාඤා මෙහෙයේදී දේශනය සිදු කරමින් ඇන්ග්ලිකානු නිකායේ කුරුණෑගල පදවියේ හිටපු රදගුරු ගරු කුමාර ඉලංගසිංහ රදගුරුතුමන් මෙම ප්‍රහාරය සම්බන්ධව යුක්තිය ඉටු කරවා ගැනීම පිණිස කතෝලික ජනතාව ඒ වෙනුවෙන් පුලුල්ව අවධානය යොමු කරවා ගැනීමේ අවශ්‍යතාවය අවධාරණය කළේය.

එසේම විරෝධතාවය අතරතුර ජෝර්ජ් ඊ ද සිල්වා උද්‍යානයේදි අදහස් දක්වමින් බලගොල්ල බෞද්ධ මධ්‍යස්ථානයේ අතිපූජ්‍ය තල්පොත ධම්මජෝති ස්වාමීන් වහන්සේ පාස්කු ප්‍රහාරයෙන් පසු වසර 07 ඇතුළත පොත්පත් ලියා නොයෙකුත් මත ගොඩ නැඟීමට උත්සහා කළද මෙම ප්‍රහාරය සිදු කරන ලද මහමොළකරුවන් හෙළි දරව් කිරීමට අපොහොසත් වී ඇති බව අවධාරණය කළේය.

එසේම වැඩිදුරටත් අදහස් දක්වමින් මහනුවර මානව හිමිකම් කාර්‍යාලයේ අධ්‍යක්ෂ ගරු නන්දන මනතුංග පියතුමන් වත්මන් ආණ්ඩුව විසින් සිදු කරන පාස්කු විමර්ශන සම්බන්ධයෙන් කතෝලිකයන් වශයෙන් සෑහීමකට පත් වුවද විවිද පිරිස් පොත්පත් ලියමින් විමර්ශන වෙනත් දිශාවකට යොමු කරමින් නොමඟ යැවීමට සිදු කරන අනිසි බලපෑම් පිළිබඳව ආණ්ඩුව අවධානය යොමු කළ යුතු බව අවධාරණය කළේය.

මෙහිදී අදහස් දැක්වූ මොහොමඩ් රිස්වාන් මව්ලොවිතුමන් මහමොළකරු කවුරුන්ද යන්න වසර 07 ගත වුනද රටට හෙළි නොකිරීම පිළිබඳව ආගමින නායකයන් වශයෙන් කණගාටුවට පත් වන බව ප්‍රකාශ කළේය.

විශේෂයෙන්ම පාස්කු ප්‍රහාරය සම්බන්ධ වින්දිතයින්ගේ අයිතිවාසිකම් වෙනුවෙන් පෙනී සිටින නීතීඥ සුරේන්. ඩී පෙරේරා මහතා මෙහිදී ප්‍රකාශ කළේ ආරක්ෂක නියෝජ්‍ය ඇමතිවරයා වන අරුණ ජයසේකර මහතා නැඟෙනහිර ආඥාපති තනතුරේ සිටියදී සයින්දමරුදු ප්‍රහාරය සිදු වූ බැවින් පාස්කු විමර්ශන පැවැත්වෙන වකවානුව තුළ එම විමර්ශන වල ස්වාධීනත්වය වෙනුවෙන් ඔහු නියෝජ්‍ය අමාත්‍යධූරයෙන් ඉවත් විය යුතු බවයි.

දැඩි වර්ෂාව මධ්‍යයේ වුවද පිරිස මෙම කටයුතු අවසන් වනතෙක් රැඳී සිටිමින් පාස්කු ප්‍රහාරයෙන් මියගිය පිරිස අනුස්මරණය කිරීම සංවේදී සිදුවීමක් වූ අතර පාස්කු ප්‍රහාරයේ මධ්‍යම පළාතේ සිටින වින්දිතයින් ද සිය අහිමි සමීපතමයන්ගේ ඡායාරූප ප්‍රදර්ශනය කරමින් එහි රැඳී සිටීම සැමගේ අවධානයට පාත්‍ර විය.

Remembering the Victims of the Easter Sunday Attacks
Seven Years Without Justice

A protest march and prayer service organized by the Kandy Christian Community was held on April 21, 2026 to mark seven years since the Easter Sunday attacks, under the theme: “Seven years without Justice for the Easter Sunday attacks - Let us expose all forces obstructing the investigations”.

The event drew a large and diverse gathering of religious leaders, including Buddhist monks, Islamic religious leaders, Catholic priests and nuns, reflecting a strong sense of interfaith solidarity. Rev. Brothers from the Ampitiya National Seminary and other seminarians were also in attendance.

In addition to clergy, laypersons, civil society activists, legal professionals, journalists and victims of the Easter attack from across the Central Province participated in the event. Many voiced deep concern over the continued failure to ensure Justice and Accountability for one of the country’s most tragic incidents.

The protest march commenced at the Good Shepherd Convent in Kandy, with participants carrying placards calling for independent and transparent investigations. Demonstrators also raised concerns over misleading narratives and undue external influences that could undermine ongoing investigative efforts.

The procession concluded at George E. de Silva Park, where a solemn prayer service and remembrance ceremony took place. Participants lit candles and placed floral at the cross in memory of those who lost their lives, creating a deeply reflective and emotional atmosphere.

Delivering a reflection, Rt. Rev. Kumara Illangasinghe, former Bishop of the Kurunegala Diocese of the Anglican Church, emphasized the importance of sustained public engagement in the pursuit of Justice. The Bishop urged the Christian community and the wider public to ensure that the demand for accountability does not fade from national attention.

Addressing the gathering, Ven. Thalpotha Dhammajothi Thero of the Balagolla Buddhist Center noted that although various publications and narratives have emerged over the years, none have conclusively identified the masterminds behind the attacks.

Further commenting, Fr. Nandana Manatunga, Director of the Human Rights Office in Kandy, said that while Catholics are somewhat satisfied with the current government’s investigations, attention must be paid to undue influences attempting to mislead the investigations through various publications and media campaigns.

Moulavi Mohammed Rizwan also addressed the gathering, expressing regret that even after seven years, the country has yet to receive clear answers regarding those ultimately responsible.

Attorney Suren D. Perera, who represents the rights of the victims, stated that since the Sainthamaruthu incident occurred while Deputy Defence Minister Aruna Jayasekara was serving as Eastern Commander, he should step down from his ministerial position in order to ensure the independence and credibility of ongoing investigations.

Despite heavy rain, participants remained until the conclusion of the event, underscoring the emotional significance of the commemoration. Victims’ families displayed photographs of their loved ones, drawing sympathy and reinforcing the urgent call for truth and justice.

JUSTICE, TRANSPARENCY and ACCOUNTABILITY
remain unfinished work - not only for those who lost their lives, but for a country still searching for closure.

“Well-being of a Woman is Society’s True Wealth”
International Women’s Day Celebration in Kandy

The Human Rights Office (HRO), Kandy, Sri Lanka, celebrated the International Women’s Day on 07 March 2026 at its premises. The event brought together over 90 inspiring women, many of whom have faced profound adversity as survivors of gender-based violence, torture and other human rights violations. The participants included family members of the disappeared and prisoners as well as members of support group connected with the work of the HRO.

A nation’s true wealth is not measured only in money, infrastructure or technology it is measured in the well-being of its people. At the heart of that well-being stands the woman. When women are healthy, respected and empowered, they nurture families with strength and compassion. They raise confident children, contribute to the workforce, lead communities and inspire positive change. Their physical, emotional and mental well-being creates a ripple effect that touches every corner of society.

However, when women struggle without access to healthcare, education, safety or equal opportunities the whole society feels the loss. Investing in women’s health, dignity and happiness is not an act of charity; rather, it is a wise and powerful investment in the future. When women flourish, society grows richer in every way that truly matters.

Addressing the gathering, Mrs. Punya Kumuduni Jayathunga, Head Nurse of the Elderly Care Unit of the Peradeniya Teaching Hospital, shared her professional and personal experiences regarding the importance of self-care and access to proper healthcare. To emphasize the connection between physical and mental health, she led the participants in simple, lively exercises set to music in which all the participants were happily and actively engaged, fostering a sense of collective joy and vitality.

Fr. Nandana Manatunga, Director of the Human Rights Office, explained the purpose of bringing women together to celebrate Women’s Day under the theme “Well-being of a Woman is Society’s True Wealth.” He emphasized that the well-being of women is essential for building strong families, resilient communities and a just society.

The event also featured cultural performances presented by family members of the disappeared. These performances added a vibrant and meaningful dimension to the celebration, reflecting the strength, courage and resilience of women in society.

මහනුවර මානව හිමිකම් කාර්‍යාලය 2026 මාර්තු 7 වන දින එහි පරිශ්‍රයේදී ජාත්‍යන්තර කාන්තා දිනය සැමරීය. මෙම අවස්ථාවට ලිංගිකත්වය පදනම් වූ හිංසනය, වධහිංසාව සහ වෙනත් මානව හිමිකම් උල්ලංඝනවලට මුහුණ දී ඇති කාන්තාවන්, අතුරුදන් වූවන්ගේ පවුල් සාමාජිකයන්, සිරගතවූවන්ගේ පවුල් සාමාජිකයන් සහ මානව හිමිකම් කාර්‍යාලයේ කටයුතු සමඟ සම්බන්ධ සහයෝගී කණ්ඩායම් සාමාජිකයන් ඇතුළු ධෛර්‍යමත් කාන්තාවන් 90 කට අධික පිරිසක් එක්විය.

ජාතියක සැබෑ වත්කම මනින්නේ මුදල්, ව්‍යුහමය සංවර්ධනය හෝ තාක්‍ෂණයෙන් පමණක් නොවේ. එය එම ජනතාවගේ යහපැවැත්ම මගින් මනිනු ලබයි. එම යහපැවැත්මේ හදවතෙහි සිටින්නේ කාන්තාවයි. කාන්තාවන් සෞඛ්‍යවත්, ගෞරවයෙන් යුතුව සහ බලගැන්වී සිටින විට, ඔවුන් ශක්තියෙන් හා කරුණාවෙන් යුතුව පවුල් පෝෂණය කරති. ඔවුන් විශ්වාසයෙන් යුත් දරුවන් ඇති කරති, රැකියා ක්‍ෂේත්‍රයට දායක වෙති, සමාජයට නායකත්වය දෙති. එමෙන්ම ධනාත්මක වෙනසක් සඳහා ආදර්ශයක් ද වෙති. ඔවුන්ගේ ශාරීරික, මානසික සහ සමාජීය යහපැවැත්ම සමාජයේ සෑම කොණකටම පැතිර යන ධනාත්මක බලපෑමක් ඇති කරයි.

කෙසේවෙතත්, කාන්තාවන්ට සෞඛ්‍ය සේවා, අධ්‍යාපනය, ආරක්‍ෂාව හෝ සමාන අවස්ථා නොලැබීමෙන් ඔවුන් අභියෝගවලට මුහුණ දෙන විට, එහි අහිමිවීම මුළු සමාජයටම බලපායි. කාන්තාවන්ගේ සෞඛ්‍යය, ගෞරවය සහ සතුට සඳහා ආයෝජනය කිරීම අනාගතය සඳහා සිදු කරන වටිනා ආයෝජනයකි. කාන්තාවන් සාර්ථකව දියුණුවන විට, සමාජය සැබෑ අර්ථයෙන් සියලු ආකාරයෙන්ම ඉසුරුමත් වෙයි.

මෙම අවස්ථාවට සම්පත් දායකත්වය සපයමින් පේරාදෙණිය ශික්‍ෂණ රෝහලේ වැඩිහිටි සත්කාර ඒකකයේ ප්‍රධාන හෙදි නිලධාරිනී පුණ්‍යා කුමුදුනි ජයතුංග මහත්මිය තම වෘත්තීය හා පෞද්ගලික අත්දැකීම් හරහා කාන්තාවක් ලෙස තමන් ගැන සැලකිලිමත් වීමේ වැදගත්කම සහ නිසි සෞඛ්‍ය සේවාවට ප්‍රවේශය පිළිබඳ අදහස් හුවමාරු කළාය. ශාරීරික හා මානසික සෞඛ්‍යය අතර සම්බන්ධතාවය අවධාරණය කිරීම සඳහා ඇය සංගීතයට අනුව සරල හා සජීවී ව්‍යායාම කිහිපයක් මෙහෙයවීය. සියලු සහභාගීවූවන් සතුටින් හා සක්‍රීයව ඒවාට එක්විය.

මානව හිමිකම් කාර්‍යාලයේ අධ්‍යක්‍ෂ ගරු නන්දන මනතුංග පියතුමන් මෙම දිනයේ අරමුණ පැහැදිලි කරමින් “නිරෝගිමත් කාන්තාව යහපත් සමාජයක අඩිතාලමයි” යන තේමාව යටතේ ජාත්‍යන්තර කාන්තා දිනය සැමරීමේ වැදගත්කම අවධාරණය කළේය. කාන්තාවන්ගේ යහපැවැත්ම ශක්තිමත් පවුල්, ධෛර්‍යවත් සමාජ සහ සාධාරණ සමාජයක් ගොඩනැගීමට අත්‍යවශ්‍ය බවද එතුමන් සඳහන් කළේය.

මෙම වැඩසටහන විචිත්‍රවත් කරමින් අතුරුදන් වූවන්ගේ පවුල් සාමාජිකයන් විසින් ගීත හා නර්තන ඉදිරිපත් කිරීම් සිදු කළ අතර, එය මෙම උත්සවයට සජීවී සහ අර්ථවත් මානයක් එක් කළේය. එම ඉදිරිපත් කිරීම් සමාජයේ කාන්තාවන්ගේ ශක්තිය, ධෛර්‍යය සහ අසීමිත ධීරතාව පිළිබිඹු කළේය.
