π WILD ENCOUNTERS: Leopards of Sri Lanka π
Just returned from an incredible safari through Sri Lanka's stunning national parks! Did you know this island paradise is home to the highest density of leopards in the world?
Yala National Park offered the most breathtaking moments - watching a majestic leopard lounging on a rock at sunset, its spotted coat glowing golden in the fading light. These elusive cats rule the landscape here, and seeing one in its natural habitat is truly humbling.
Also explored Wilpattu National Park, where patience paid off with a rare sighting of a mother leopard teaching her cubs to hunt! The Sri Lankan leopard (Panthera pardus kotiya) is a unique subspecies found nowhere else on Earth.
If you're planning a wildlife adventure, February to July offers the best viewing opportunities when water is scarce and animals gather at watering holes.
Pro tip: Book with an experienced guide who knows the leopards' territories. Ours could identify individual cats by their spot patterns!

Visited the magnificent Thuparamaya Temple in Anuradhapura today! ποΈβ¨
Built in the 3rd century BCE, this is considered Sri Lanka's first Buddhist stupa and holds the sacred right collarbone relic of Lord Buddha. The elegant bell-shaped dome is surrounded by graceful stone pillars that once supported a circular roof.
Walking through this ancient site, I couldn't help but feel connected to over 2,000 years of Buddhist history and devotion. The white stupa glows beautifully at sunset against the deep blue sky.
If you're planning to visit Sri Lanka's Cultural Triangle, Thuparamaya is an essential stop in the sacred city of Anuradhapura.
