Mother Pleads for Help as Traditional 'Bone Doctor' Treatment R0ts 12-Year-Old Son's Leg

A heartbroken mother is making a desperate public appeal to humanitarians, politicians, and philanthropists to save the life of her 12-year-old son, whose leg is severely r0tting following an agonizing traditional medical treatment.

Bendo Flomo’s son suffered one br0ken leg in a horrific motorbike accident nearly three months ago. Paralyzed by fear that medical doctors would amputate her child's limb, Flomo bypassed the hospital and instead took the boy to a traditional healer, commonly known as a "bone doctor."

The traditional healer subjected the 12-year-old to a destructive procedure that involved pouring boiling water directly over his br0ken leg and wrapping them in heavy blankets to "melt" the tissue. The practice has caused the boy's flesh to severely decay, leaving him in critical condition and in constant pain.

Urgent Medical Intervention
Having completely exhausted their meager financial resources on the failed traditional treatments, the family has fled to the Bassa Community in Kakata City, where they are currently sheltering in a cramped home belonging to Flomo's sister.

With her son's condition worsening by the day, the mother is now begging well-meaning citizens and organizations to intervene before the infection becomes fatal.

The case highlights a dangerous, recurring trend in rural and peri-urban Liberia, where a fear of modern surgery and deep-rooted trust in unregulated traditional bone setters often lead to severe, life-threatening complications for accident victims.
