Honoring Memory, Confronting Terror, and Understanding Power: My Journey to the 9/11 Memorial

As a student who studied American Presidency as one of my recent courses, I’ve come to appreciate how singular moments can reshape the very core of a nation’s leadership and identity. Few events have defined the modern American presidency more than the tragic morning of September 11, 2001, when 2,977 innocent lives were lost in a brutal terrorist attack on American soil.

This week, I stood where history weeps and speaks, at the sacred grounds of the National September 11 Memorial & Museum in New York City. Surrounded by the towering structures that rose from the ashes of Ground Zero, I reflected not only on the human cost of that day but on how profoundly it redefined the U.S. presidency, foreign policy, national security, and global counterterrorism efforts.

In the museum’s depths, facing remnants of that day the final column, the tattered flag, the walls etched with names; I was reminded that leadership is forged not only in policy rooms but in how a nation responds to pain. President George W. Bush’s presidency was instantly transformed by these attacks. From the creation of the Department of Homeland Security to the launch of the War on Terror, his leadership was tested in unprecedented ways, decisions that have since shaped two decades of global affairs.

Each photo I took carries a message. Standing by the cascading waterfalls of the Memorial, where each name engraved is a universe lost; viewing the preserved flag raised amid rubble; or pausing in the dim halls where silence speaks louder than words; these were not mere photo opportunities. They were moments of reverence and responsibility.

I did not come merely as a visitor. I came as a student of government, of history, of diplomacy and as a future servant committed to peace, activism, justice, and resilience. The fight against terrorism, against injustice, and against human suffering is more urgent than ever.

May the memory of the fallen continue to compel us to lead with integrity, to protect with courage, and to govern with the weight of history in our hearts. Trying to do my professor justice, he requested and I am delivering on the mandate, deeper understanding of American Presidency.

Your please wish RESCUE RAMBO happy birthday, the scripted advocate though a big UP man being taken care of by Sekou Dukuly of NPA where his mom reportedly sits and getting paid for both him and his Verity Newspaper in the tone of thousands when ordinary folks earn 150 in the same port of entry. The masses are no more gullible, be on your lane and let the masses be on theirs! This double standard won’t help you! Enjoy your birthday!!
