OFFICIAL STATEMENT

Monrovia, Liberia | May 18, 2025

The Cabila Sports Committee has rendered a verdict to penalize Team Sanoe in accordance with Section 2.9 of the rules governing the tournament.

Section 2.9 clearly states that “no team shall field a player who does not legitimately bear the team's surname. Violating this rule results in forfeiture of the match (loss of 3 points) and a fine of 1,500LD.”

The decision to punish Team Sanoe follows a recent incident involving Isiaka Jakiety, who wore jersey number 9 and played for Team Sanoe during their match against Team Trawallay.

After a thorough investigation, the committee confirmed that Isiaka Jakiety is a legitimate member of the Bassano family, thus violating Section 2.9. As a result, Team Sanoe has lost the three points from Match Day 1 and is fined accordingly.

In addition, the committee has fined Team Bassano 2,000LD for promoting identity fraud and suspended Isiaka Jakiety from participating in the remainder of this year’s edition of the Cabila Tournament.

It is important to note that Team Trawallay was also previously penalized for violating the same rule during the match against Team Sanoe.

Since both teams have now been found in violation of Section 2.9, the match results are nullified, and no points or statistics from that game will count.

This is the final decision from the Cabila Sports Committee regarding this matter. We remain committed to upholding the integrity and fairness of the tournament.
