QUESTION OF THE DAY❓️❓️❓️

Photos from Sesotho Media & Development's post 08/05/2026

Yesterday, Sesotho Media and Development throught the financial support of European Union in Lesotho facilitated a powerful community discussion on different forms of abuse, including Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and the Counter Domestic Violence Act.

Together with community members and their leaders, we unpacked the most common forms of abuse affecting families and explored practical ways to prevent such crimes. The session encouraged active participation, raised awareness on the importance of reporting abuse, and highlighted the need to protect victims.

One of the key challenges identified was that many community members are not familiar with the laws of Lesotho that address GBV and other forms of abuse. This lack of knowledge limits their ability to seek justice and protection.

Some participants also expressed fear of reporting abuse, worrying they may face stigma, hatred, or isolation from others in the community.
