The Spelling Bee Association of Lesotho (SBALE) is excited to announce the international opportunities awaiting our top performers at the 2026 National Spelling Bee Competition (2–5 September 2026).

🏆 Regional Spelling Bee
📅 23–26 September 2026
📍 BBKS Academy, Limpopo, South Africa
👥 Priority: Top 5 National Finalists per Grade (Grade 4-11)
💰 M4,600 (All-inclusive: registration, transport, accommodation & meals)

🌍 African Spelling Bee Championship
📅 March 2027
📍 Zambia
👥 Priority: 6 National Champions
💰 M20,100 (All-inclusive: registration, return flights, accommodation, meals, transport in Zambia & excursions)

⚠️ Important: Priority is given to qualifying learners, but any unconfirmed or unfunded spots after the official deadline will be offered to the next eligible and financially ready speller to ensure Lesotho is fully represented.

We encourage parents, schools, and communities to begin seeking sponsorships and fundraising support early.

Yesterday, April 10, 2026, the Spelling Bee Association of Lesotho (SBALE) took center stage at the inaugural Spelling a Business Challenge 1st Tertiary Edition.

In a high-stakes fusion of linguistic precision and entrepreneurial drive, SBALE expertly facilitated the critical spelling bee component of the competition. This segment served as the ultimate "litmus test" for our tertiary students; participants were required to navigate a rigorous spelling gauntlet to secure a spot in the prestigious Top 10.

The competition structure was clear and demanding:
1. The Spelling Challenge:
Facilitated by SBALE, this round tested the focus, vocabulary, and composure of every participant.

2. The Elimination:
Precision was paramount. A single misspelled word resulted in elimination, emphasizing the importance of detail in professional excellence.

As part of this strategic collaboration, SBALE will facilitate the spelling component of the competition, reaffirming our commitment to promoting literacy, precision, and academic excellence among learners. Spelling is not only a foundational skill for communication, but also a critical tool for success in business, innovation, and professional environments.

Through this platform, the Top 10 finalists will advance to the next phase of the competition, where they will pitch their business ideas. The overall winner will walk away with a grand prize of M100,000.00, highlighting the powerful link between language mastery and entrepreneurial opportunity.
