🌍🌱 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗝𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗟𝗲𝘀𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗼 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱! 🌱🌍

𝙍𝙚𝙧𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙡𝙚 𝙆𝙖𝙢𝙤𝙝𝙞 is a social worker and climate change activist from Maseru, dedicated to advancing sustainable development, equitable climate adaptation, and youth access to green finance globally. Through initiatives such as 𝙋𝙡𝙖𝙣𝙩 𝙊𝙣𝙚 𝙏𝙧𝙚𝙚, the 𝙀𝙢𝙚𝙧𝙜𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝘾𝙡𝙞𝙢𝙖𝙩𝙚 𝘾𝙝𝙖𝙢𝙥𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨 𝘼𝙬𝙖𝙧𝙙𝙨 (𝙇𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧 𝙁𝙤𝙧 𝘾𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙚), and the 𝙔𝙤𝙪𝙩𝙝 𝙀𝙢𝙥𝙤𝙬𝙚𝙧𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙁𝙪𝙣𝙙 (𝙂𝙡𝙤𝙗𝙖𝙡 𝙔𝙤𝙪𝙩𝙝 𝙈𝙤𝙗𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙯𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣), she is driving meaningful change for communities and young people.

🌱 Her leadership is recognized internationally: she is an 𝙀𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙝𝙨𝙝𝙤𝙩 𝙋𝙧𝙞𝙯𝙚 𝙥𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙞𝙘𝙞𝙥𝙖𝙣𝙩, a 𝙈𝙖𝙭 𝙏𝙝𝙖𝙗𝙞𝙨𝙤 𝙀𝙙𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙨 𝘾𝙡𝙞𝙢𝙖𝙩𝙚 𝘼𝙢𝙗𝙖𝙨𝙨𝙖𝙙𝙤𝙧, and an 𝙐𝙉𝙇𝙀𝘼𝙎𝙃 𝙍𝙬𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙖 𝘼𝙡𝙪𝙢𝙣𝙞. Through these platforms, she continues to design innovative, community‑focused solutions to tackle national and regional climate challenges.

👏 Let’s celebrate Rererile’s inspiring journey and wish her success as she champions sustainability and resilience for Lesotho and beyond!

Our case study on Lesotho — taking women as a focus group — has showcased how women are at the height of vulnerability to climate change both in the highlands and the lowlands. It highlights that while women are globally disproportionately affected by climate change, those in the highlands experience different and often more severe impacts compared to women in the lowlands. Women in the highlands face heightened climate risks, which continue to undermine livelihoods and food security. Reliance on subsistence farming to meet their own and their families’ daily nutritional needs has increasingly become a challenge due to changing climate patterns.

These findings further reinforce the priorities outlined in Lesotho’s Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) and National Adaptation Plans (NAPs), which recognize gender-responsive climate action, climate-resilient agriculture, and community-based adaptation as critical pathways to strengthening resilience among vulnerable groups, particularly women.

We at Plant One Tree (POT) proudly stand with the world in marking World AIDS Day — a day that reminds us of the ongoing fight against HIV/AIDS and the shared responsibility we carry to protect, uplift, and empower our communities.

HIV/AIDS continues to affect families, young people, and vulnerable groups across the globe — including right here in Lesotho. Despite progress in treatment and prevention, stigma and misinformation remain some of the biggest barriers to ending AIDS.

At Plant One Tree, we believe that every person deserves access to accurate information, regular testing, compassionate support, and quality healthcare — regardless of their status or background.

Today, we commit to:

POT was truly honoured to be invited to the European Union in Lesotho Civil Society Dialogue held in Maseru on 24 November 2025. 🌿✨
This invitation marks an important milestone for us, showing that the work we do on environmental protection, youth empowerment, and community resilience is being recognized at national and international levels. 🙏💚

The dialogue brought together key civil society organizations to engage directly with the European Union on major thematic areas such as water, energy, governance, natural resource management, and the progress of EU-funded initiatives. 🇪🇺🤝🇱🇸

For POT, being in this space meant carrying the voices of our communities, representing grassroots environmental action, and contributing to discussions that influence Lesotho’s sustainable future. Every seat we take in such forums is a victory for climate resilience, community empowerment, and the protection of our natural environment. 🌍🌱
