LEAWA is an assessment-cum-evaluation instrument that is designed to deliver strong emphasis on practical and vocational development, with the aim of paving way for film and television graduates to gain accreditation and recognition by industry professionals. It is designed to reflect the specialist departmental structure of the film and TV industry and to prepare learners for world of work in a range of creative disciplines within the industry.

It is a learner centered, hands-on mode of assessment that is intended to enable learners to write production proposals (treatment documents), give oral presentations (pitches) and produce films to professional standards. It is aimed at preparing graduates for regular appearances in the credits of major TV and cinema releases, winning awards at prestigious film festivals, and having their scripts developed into independent film productions.
