Discover the Paperjam interview with GG Kirchner, Partner and Architect at Metaform, speaking about Epernay, a project particularly close to his heart.

Designed by Metaform for POST Luxembourg, Epernay is more than a building. It is a case study exploring new ways of thinking about sustainable architecture.

Developed through a quite novel approach, the project took time to evolve and is approached at Metaform almost like a research laboratory, constantly seeking new ways of building and exploring new avenues for responsible architecture.
From reclaimed bricks previously used in Germany to reused interior materials, over 70% of materials were repurposed for certain elements. The building also uses intelligent natural ventilation and thermal mass regulation, eliminating the need for conventional heating and air conditioning.

Despite the challenges of creating a project that does not fit into a standard category, Epernay proves that it is possible to completely rethink the concept of sustainable building.

“From now on, our goal at Metaform is to go beyond simply reducing waste and to develop new, more responsible approaches, particularly for future generations. We cannot carry on like this: urgent action is needed.” — GG Kirchner

We are happy to announce that Headquarters - Helix has received a Special Mention in the Architizer A+Awards in the category Architecture + Facades.

Selected among entries from more than 70 countries, this recognition highlights the project’s architectural quality and its contribution to contemporary façade design.

Framed within Luxembourg’s dense urban fabric, the façade of the POST Headquarters resolves a complex dialogue between heritage and modernity. Through the play of extrusion and morphing, the sloped roof of the historic Accinauto corner building gradually transforms into a vertical plane, aligning with the new stone façade and creating a continuous, unified frontage.

This folding and rotation allow the contemporary building to transition carefully from the historic streetscape, bridging Haussmannian heritage and a modern urban rhythm. Vertical natural stone fins provide rhythm, depth, and solar protection while echoing the mineral permanence of the surroundings. Locally sourced stone and modular assembly ensure sustainability, durability, and precision.

The façade is simultaneously monumental and permeable, mediating between past and future, city and workplace, and redefining the corner as a civic and contemporary landmark.

We thank and the jury of the A+Awards for this recognition.

On Tuesday, April 28, our architect Jackie Ley represented Metaform at the Paperjam 10x6 Next Gen, alongside other young architects who shared their visions, projects and thoughts on the future of architecture.

During the evening, Jackie talked about her journey at Metaform and about the importance of building a new generation of architects with sustainability at the core of their practice.
She also presented the DAR group within Metaform, an approach in which architecture is seen as an interconnected collaboration between different disciplines, and where the focus goes beyond simply building to also embracing the responsibility and purpose behind each project.

Through several case study projects developed within the office, she showed how each project is an opportunity to learn, to question our methods, and to keep improving from one experience to the next.

We would like to thank Paperjam for the invitation and all the participating architects for this inspiring evening of exchange.
It was great to see that this next generation of architects is no longer only focused on designing buildings, but also on experimenting, collaborating and questioning the discipline, showing that there is not just one path to move architecture forward, but many different approaches.

A big thanks to all the architects involved: Alice Prum, Philippe Nathan, Céline Zimmer, Bujar Hasani, Ivan Badiarov, Hatim Chebli, Edith Nothar, Maxence Dupuis, Antoine Iung, Gianni Bartolomeo, Philippe Bosch and Antoine Bitaine.

We’re pleased to share that our project Pharmacy Marx has been nominated for the Healing Architecture Award 2026 by Callwey Verlag.

Founded in 1884 in Munich, is a leading publisher in architecture and design, with selected award projects featured in their renowned books.

Pharmacy Marx explores reduction as a design approach - where less becomes more.

As part of our Metaform Case Studies, the project focuses on material efficiency, resource awareness, and architectural clarity: minimizing elements, avoiding waste, and giving each component multiple roles.

A space defined not by addition, but by precision and intention.
