Following participation in the Transport Means 2025 conference, the Proceedings of the 29th International Scientific Conference Transport Means 2025 have been officially published.

Modern Approaches to Decarbonization of Port Logistics: International Trends and Latvian Practice

The paper analyses global and EU-driven decarbonisation strategies in port logistics, including renewable energy integration, electrification, digitalisation, and AI-based optimisation. A particular focus is given to the Freeport of Riga, highlighting practical implementation through emission monitoring systems, solar energy development, and digital solutions.

The research was developed within the framework of the Interreg Central Baltic project “Sustainable Flow”, contributing to applied solutions for reducing emissions and improving energy efficiency in Baltic Sea ports.

Since 2024, ITDA experts have been actively participating in the Transport Means conference, as its proceedings are indexed in Scopus and assigned a DOI (Digital Object Identifier), ensuring international visibility and academic recognition.

We join January 28 — CO₂ Emissions Reduction Day and believe it is important to support and share such initiatives, even when they are communicated in different languages.

This topic is especially close to us, as ITDA is actively involved in the Sustainable Flow project under the Central Baltic Programme, which is aimed at reducing CO₂ emissions and developing sustainable solutions in the Freeport of Riga. The project brings together science, digital tools, and practical solutions for port and transport infrastructure across the Baltic region.

We are genuinely pleased to see tangible results and a consistent green transition approach demonstrated by our colleagues in Lithuania and the Port of Klaipėda.

Sustainable development is not a slogan, but a daily commitment where knowledge exchange and international cooperation play a crucial role.

☑️organizuoti ir vykdyti neplaninius bei planinius vidaus auditus savarankiškai ir (ar) su sudaryta darbo grupe, vadovaujantis pasauliniais vidaus audito standartais, rengti standartizuotas vidaus audito ataskaitas, pateikiant aiškias ir vertingas procesų tobulinimo bei vidaus kontrolės stiprinimui skirtas rekomendacijas, grindžiamas patikima duomenų analize;

☑️vertinti kontrolės sistemos visumą, analizuoti sudėtingą informaciją, atpažinti reikšmingas rizikas ir teikti rekomendacijas, užtikrinančias sisteminius pokyčius;

☑️analizuoti ir identifikuoti potencialias rizikas bei teikti įžvalgas dėl jų mažinimo;

☑️teikti pasiūlymus dėl bendrų Vidaus audito skyriaus darbo metodų ir Vidaus audito skyriaus kompetencijos srityje esančių vidaus teisės aktų ir kitų dokumentų tobulinimo;

☑️rengti vidaus teisės aktų, reglamentuojančių vidaus audito veiklą, projektus;

☑️vertinti, ar pakankama ir veiksminga bendrovės vidaus kontrolės sistema;

☑️organizuoti ir vykdyti audituotų subjektų rekomendacijų įgyvendinimo stebėseną;

☑️rengti veiklos ataskaitas.

🇬🇧Yesterday at the Freeport of Riga we hosted digital tool testing and training as part of the Sustainable Flow project!

👩‍💻 Participants from Latvian port companies explored how the tool can be used for CO₂ monitoring and energy efficiency, tested its functions, and shared valuable feedback to support further improvements.

This innovative tool is designed to help ports and terminals:
✅ track and report CO₂ emissions more accurately,
✅ plan and evaluate energy-saving measures,
✅ get ready for the upcoming EU requirements (MRV Regulation and CSRD starting in 2026).
