Last Sunday, our monthly appointment with Walk and Talk was held at our Foresta 2000 Nature Reserve, a restored Mediterranean woodland stretching almost coast to coast in Mellieħa and offering not only diverse wildlife, but also a fantastic view across the valley.
We met at the entrance of the reserve, walked for about 40 minutes up to the St Agatha’s Tower (Red Tower), and back to the entrance. At the Tower, we took a break to reflect on the history of the reserve, which was vandalized several times throughout the years. We reflected on the similarity we can make with our own life, when we feel that everything is lost, we find the strength to rebuild, plant the seeds of hope, and benefit from the support of our beloved ones. Nature gives us always the best example of resiliency and offer us a place to be still, mindful, and reconnect with ourselves.
If you missed the opportunity to attend this event and visit Foresta 2000, don’t panic! The reserve is open 24/7 and access is free of charge.

Last Saturday, the Blooming Minds team participated in this month’s Walk and Talk at Vincent's Eco Estate.
It was Rachael Hollwey’s last physical walk after setting up Walk and Talk four years ago before she sadly leaves Malta for medical reasons.
We walked for an hour, stopping for a mindfulness exercise to focus on grounding through listening to the sounds around us. We then all enjoyed refreshments together while listening to an acoustic version of the well-known "upbeat" song from the Friends theme tune. The slow speed made it very emotional and heartfelt as we actually felt it hard to say goodbye to such a special person like Rachael who shares with us the value of connecting with nature as part of our mental health care.
Rachael will continue coordinating the monthly Walk and Talks from afar so, please, keep using the support she has created and don’t forget to tune into nature for some healing energy. Check out our nature reserves to choose your best nature spot while waiting for the next Walk and Talk event!
