Intrepid Macedonia

Wonderful architecture, home of the Pelagonia-Prespa diocese of the Macedonian Orthodox Church situated in City of Bitola.
Bitola architecture is very electric and shows metropolitan life thru the ages.
Some of the buildings date from 1506.
This particular building is over 120yrs old.

Macedonia is know for the thousands of churches and monasteries dotted around the country mostly off the beaten path. Once you made an effort to reach them, you are taken a back by the precious art hiding inside those 4 walls.
Frescoes have alway been integral part of the Christian Orthodox Churches, and one particular church high above City of Skopje on the slopes of Vodno mountain is no exception. There you can find the "Lamentation of Christ" fresco, 200yrs older than one of Giotto in Padua, which is thought was start of the Renesance.
Macedonian fresco painters with their skills for over thousand of years have been adorning those houses of worship.
