Background Story:

From a humble tea stall to a refined tea room — this is the story of Pan Hla, a passionate entrepreneur from Natmauk, Magway Region, who brought his love of traditional Burmese tea culture to Yangon. What began as a small local tea shop gradually flourished into a successful business, thanks to the owner’s strong principles, quiet determination, and elegant hospitality.

As the brand grew, he envisioned transforming his shop into a more curated, luxurious tea experience. That’s when Shelldesign was brought on board — not just for interior design, but to redefine the full brand identity, including a new logo and brand guidelines that reflect his story and vision.

Rooted in her Upper Myanmar heritage, we used locally inspired elements such as traditional woods, textures, and materials — balanced with luxurious details like gold tones, glossy surfaces, and warm lighting to create a sense of quiet sophistication.

The new Pan Hla logo uses a vibrant yellow, symbolizing joy, warmth, and appetite — inviting guests to feel both welcome and indulgent. To preserve the nostalgic charm of enjoying morning tea in the sunlight, we also integrated an outdoor seating space, allowing light and air to become part of the experience.

The architectural design draws inspiration from Wardan Jetty — historically known for its bamboo-lined walkways and moored boats. We interpreted these traditional boat forms and framing elements into the layout and detailing of the interior space, echoing the harmony between movement, balance, and rest.

"A house is made of walls and beams,
a home is built with love and dreams."
And here is something brought by Shelldesign. for an adorable family.

The view and air ventilation is the main factor for a penthouse so we made some walls down to get connected to nature.
Taking the background colour from the big blue sky, we put the essence of warmth (of a family) opposing the blue. Playing the orange pattern here and there with balancing the yellowish wooden texture to express love and happiness.

A small, dull apartment was changed into a real, alive home now. Thanks to our client for following the designer's advice.
