Welcome back to this week !!
This week, we would like to introduce everyone on the topic of differentiation?
First, what is differentiationβββ
Differentiation is a fundamental part of a branch of Mathematics; calculus. It is majority used to calculate "the rate", more commonly known as gradient in Mathematical term. This gradient typically describes the rate of something happen in real life. For instance, how fast a particular object changes its speed when it travels down a slope is all based on the concept of gradient. ππ
So, what exactly do we solve when we differentiate?
How do you find a gradient of a line? You can simply do this by applying the formula of "RISE/ RUN". Now imagine, there is a curve.π€.. How do you find the gradient of this curveπ?
This is where differentiation comes in.
By simply differentiating the equation of the curved line, you can obtain the gradient. Now, let us explain the basic rules of differentiation.
A simple differentiation only consists of two steps:
1οΈβ£ Multiply the number in front by the power
2οΈβ£ Reduce the original power by 1
This means, differentiating 5 powered by 4 would result in (5*4) power (4-1) = 20 powered by 3. We hope you all understand a little bit more about the concept of differentiation.

It is time for; !!!
For this week, we would like to reflect on whether you truly understand the concept with some questions; yes it is our usual QUIZ TIME! π₯π₯π₯
ARE YOU READY?
1οΈβ£. 2β3 + 7β3
2οΈβ£. Determine the product of 2β3 and 3β5.
3οΈβ£. Simplify the surd: β21 Γ β15.
4οΈβ£. Write the surd 4 / (1 + 2β3) in the simplest form:
CHALLENGE: Subtract the surd 12β45 from the surd 25β20.
π‘π‘π‘HINTS: Addition and Subtraction of Surds can only be done within the same form of surds.
numerator.
Here are the solutions:
1. 9β3
2. 6β15
3. 3β35
4. (4 - 8β3)/ 11
Here is a step by step guide to the challenge question:
To find: 25β20 β 12β45.
Now, simplify the given surds into its simplest form.
Thus, 25β20 β 12β45 = 25β(2 Γ 2 Γ 5) β 12β(3 Γ 3 Γ 5)
25β20 β 12β45 = 25Γ2 β5 β 12Γ3 β5.
25β20 β 12β45 = 50β5 β 36β5
= 14β5
Now, we can subtract the similar surds.
Hence, 25β20 β 12β45 = 14β5.

For, this week , we here at would like to share "nothing"! βYes, you heard it right. Nothing at all... βββββ
CAUSE IT IS OUR USUAL QUIZ TIME!!! (on the topic of probability)
1. Michael tosses three fair coins. What is the probability that at least one of these coins will land on heads?
2. A jar of marbles has 125 marbles in it. 25 are blue marbles, 65 are red marble, 15 are green marbles and 20 are yellow marbles. What is the probability that the first marble picked is either green or blue?
3. A bag contains 6 green marbles, 5 blue, and 9 red. What is the probability that you will select two green marbles within two tries?
4. There is a special contest held at a high school where the winner will receive a prize of $100. 300 seniors, 200 juniors, 200 sophomores, and 100 freshmen enter the contest. Each senior places their name in the hat 5 times, juniors 3 times, and sophomores and freshmen each only once. What is the probability that a junior's name will be chosen?
The answers to the questions are as followed: DONT CHEAT EVERYONE!!!
1. 7/8
2. 8/25
3. 3/ 38
4. 1/4
If you get all the answers correctπ―π―π―, here is a challenge question for you!
CHALLENGE: A circle is inscribed inside a square. If a point inside the square is selected at random, what is the probability that the point will also be inside the circle?
Share this post and challengeπ€Ί your friendsπ€Ί to see whether they can tackle these question.

For this week, we here at would like to explain to everyone the difference between the IGCSE and your school exam (Year-9), or otherwise put the step-up between your IGCSE O levels and your lower secondary years.
Most clear obvious is the content of the syllabus that will be taught. First and foremost, IGCSE O levels consists syllabus content that is designed to be taught within 18-24 months. This means, IGCSE will be taught over the span of 2 years on average. With that being said, it is best to put constant effort within these times.
Now on the bright sideβοΈ, contents of core subjects such as Extended Mathematics, Science Subjects, and English are relatively familiar to the students. Almost 80% of the content will have been taught during your lower secondary years; at least the basics of it. However, for subjects such as Business Studies and Accounting, things might somewhat be unfamiliar to you for the initial moment. Don't worry π«though, as with proper guidance and effort, it can be cope with ease.
One more important thing to note π for student is, to understand what the examiner expects of you. IGCSE examination is an exam where both your ability to absorb knowledge and critically think based on the knowledge will be tested. This means, students cannot expect to get high grades solely by memorizing everything and also not by not learning anything at all. A perfect balance π€© of knowing when to learn things by hard, and how to apply your knowledge is required to obtain the perfect grade π―you desire.
We, here at hope students understand more on IGCSE from reading this.
