Press Statement: UNFPA launches EU Humanitarian Aid-Funded lifesaving Support for Women and Girls in Crisis-Affected Myanmar 21/05/2026

With EUR 1.3 million in support from European Union Humanitarian Aid, UNFPA Myanmar and partners are bringing lifesaving support closer to women and girls in Sagaing, Chin, Rakhine, Kachin, and Bago East.

The project will deliver:

πŸ‘‰ family planning
πŸ‘‰ gender-based violence protection services
πŸ‘‰ psychosocial support
πŸ‘‰ reproductive health supplies
πŸ‘‰ dignity kits, and more for those facing urgent protection and health needs.

β€œFor women and girls affected by crises, timely access to safe and confidential care can make the difference between life and death,” said Jaime Nadal Roig, UNFPA Country Representative to Myanmar.
