New equal pay transparency rules published this week will prohibit employers from asking job applicants about their previous salaries, as part of updated regulations aimed at strengthening pay equality.
Under the Equal Pay Transparency and Reporting Regulations, job applicants must be informed of salary ranges before recruitment is finalised, while job adverts and titles must be gender-neutral. Employers are also required to ensure recruitment practices support equal pay for equal work.
This forms part of an EU directive intended to improve pay transparency and reduce gender-based pay disparities across the workplace.
