Today marks the first day of Envision 2050 Business Convention organized by the Ministry for the Economy, Enterprise and Strategic Projects. Malta’s future will be built on pillars that include sustainability, resilience, and economic growth.

The active work on this strategic vision will enable our country to have a comprehensive and actionable plan enabling a sustainable economy of quality for Malta.

MSPP as the centralised PPP unit for government is actively participating in discussions to ensure that the effective use of PPPs will be part of this vision.

Are PPPs fit for purpose? MSPP representatives travelled to Geneva to find out. They joined global leaders attending the Eighth Session of the Working Party on Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs) this week to explore how PPPs can drive the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and advance global climate action.

This two-day event provided a vital platform to redefine PPP models, and ensure they are “fit for purpose” by prioritising “people” and the “planet”.

Among the strategies discussed were:
Enhancing climate resilience;
Integrating innovative technologies;
Ensuring long-term financial sustainability.

While there, MSPP reps attended a side event addressed by Joss Blériot, Executive Lead for Policy & Institutions, , to hear about the options of unlocking the potential of a nature-positive, circular economy for through strategies for the built environment.

It was inspiring to collaborate with leaders in the field and contribute to shaping inclusive infrastructure!

Seeking effective, sustainable, innovative, and long-term partnerships…

It’s an exciting time for public-private partnerships (PPPs) in Malta as we discussed innovative collaborations that deliver real benefits to our communities with top international and national stakeholders during our conference titled ‘A Vision for Malta’s Future – Explore PPPs Conference 2024’ at Xara Lodge.

During the conference, Economy Minister Silvio Schembri underscored the critical role of PPPs in achieving Malta's Vision 2050, and announced that the government was working to develop a regulatory framework for this sector, tailored to Malta’s unique needs.

Malta Strategic Partnership Projects CEO Marisa Marmara emphasised that progress required both public and private sector engagement.

The private sector plays a pivotal role in the advancement of our economy!

Fi żjara li saret f’din l-entità ġew diskussi l-proġetti strateġiċi li bħalissa għaddejja ħidma fuqhom. Yesterday the MSPP team welcomed our Minister for the Economy, Enterprise and Strategic Projects Silvio Schembri to MSPP offices, where we had the opportunity to discuss many interesting ideas on strategic projects. We look forward to continue our work together with the Ministry towards more investment in value for money projects.
