The future of work is no longer a distant conversation. It is already reshaping how we lead, learn, build, and innovate across Africa.
Yesterday, African Leadership University in partnership with Dalberg Advisors gathered leaders, innovators, policymakers, and changemakers on our Rwanda campus for a timely and thought-provoking conversation on Shaping Africa’s Workforce in the Age of AI.
The session challenged participants to step into future scenarios, confront uncertainty, rethink leadership under pressure, and imagine multiple futures shaped by artificial intelligence, innovation, and human potential. But beyond imagination, the conversation focused on action, connecting bold ideas to practical strategies through collaboration, co-creation, and shared ownership.
As AI continues to redefine industries and economies, the real question is not whether change is coming. The question is whether we are bold enough to shape that future ourselves.
As Gaurav Gupta, Global Managing Partner at Dalberg Advisors, reflected, “new technology doesn’t just substitute tasks; it changes what humans value.” It was a timely reminder that Africa must pay close attention to where value is shifting, and prepare its people to lead in that shift.
Our CEO, Sidee Dlamini’s reminder was equally clear: Africa cannot prepare for yesterday’s workforce while tomorrow’s realities are already here. That calls for greater urgency, stronger collaboration, and a shared commitment to preparing people not only to adapt to the future, but to shape it.
The future is being written now. Africa must not only participate in it, Africa must lead it.
What skills, systems, and mindsets do you believe Africa needs most to thrive in the age of AI? Join the conversation below.

Strengthening partnerships that drive innovation and Africa’s future.
Our CEO, Sidee Dlamini paid a courtesy visit to the Ministry of ICT and Innovation Rwanda, where she was hosted by the Minister of State, Hon. Yves N. Iradukunda.
Building on the strong collaboration that already exists between ALU and the Ministry across a number of initiatives, the meeting created space for meaningful conversations around innovation, entrepreneurship, and the role young African leaders continue to play in shaping Rwanda’s digital future. Discussions also explored how student ventures from African Leadership University can continue driving impactful innovation in Rwanda through platforms such as Hanga Pitch Fest.
The visit also highlighted the many incredible projects and forward-thinking initiatives being championed by the Ministry, a reflection that Rwanda is indeed a government that works, driven by vision, ex*****on, and a commitment to empowering innovation at every level.
We are excited about the opportunities ahead and look forward to unveiling even more impactful collaborations with the Ministry in the coming months.
