The Buddy System
Every breath-hold dive has at least two participants: The diver and the buddy. There is
no exception to this rule. Whether you are recreational diving down along a reef, training for depth for a competition, or even doing static breath-holds in a pool, ALWAYS FREEDIVE WITH A BUDDY!
When choosing a buddy, consider their certification level, max performances, and, if training for depth, their comfortable safety diving depth. You should always take budding as seriously as your own dives.
It is also an opportunity to create new connections with people. Most freedivers have certain personal bests they would only attempt unless accompanied by a close friend they can trust.
