The southernmost atoll of the Maldives, is a diver’s paradise, offering some of the most pristine and diverse underwater experiences in the country. Unlike the more commercialized diving spots in the central Maldives, Addu boasts untouched reefs, thrilling drift dives sites
Top Diving Spots in Addu Atoll
The British Loyalty Wreck
One of the Maldives' most famous wreck dives, the British Loyalty is a 140-meter-long oil tanker sunk during World War II. Resting at a depth of around 33 meters, the wreck is now covered in soft corals and home to schools of fish, turtles, and even the occasional reef shark.
Shark Point :
Known for its strong currents, Shark Point is a hotspot for gray reef sharks, nurse sharks, and eagle rays. Divers can expect thrilling drift dives with a high chance of spotting large pelagic species.
Maa Kandu (Manta Point):
This channel dive is famous for its year-round population of manta rays. During the manta season (typically from November to April), divers can witness these gentle giants gliding through the water while getting cleaned by smaller fish at cleaning stations.
Gan Inside & Outside:
Located near Gan Island, this site offers a mix of coral gardens, overhangs, and caves. Divers can explore an abundance of marine life, including Napoleon wrasse, barracudas, and moray eels.
Kottey Reef:
One of the healthiest reefs in Addu, Kottey Reef is home to vibrant coral formations, turtles, and various reef fish. This site is ideal for underwater photographers due to its stunning marine biodiversity.
