With MDF Dance Band – I just got recognized as one of their top fans!

Alberto Sax Mwale is a name that is quickly rising to the top of the list of creative forces in Malawi's music industry. He began his journey at a young age, singing in the choir and tinkering on the keyboard at home. But it was a chance encounter with a pastor that ignited his passion for music even further.

"I remember I only knew how to play Chord C Major. Then I met a friend at church who knew F Chord. That's how I improved from knowing one chord to two chords now," he recalls. This simple act of learning a new chord sparked something within Alberto, pushing him to strive for more in the world of music. But it was his uncle, Christopher Majamanda, who truly nurtured his musical talents. With a broken saxophone in hand, Alberto honed his skills while simultaneously mastering the piano.

And with determination and hard work, he quickly made a name for himself in the music scene. In 1997, Alberto's talent was already making waves, as he collaborated with renowned artists such as Black Survivors, Salim Nathu and Recall's Mwamphamvu band as a keyboardist. And as the years went by, his skills only continued to grow and evolve.

For Alberto, there are two performances that stand out as defining moments in his career. The first was when he performed with the Mkuzi family choir in Area 25, and the second was in 2018 when he performed at a church crusade in Villa Ulongwe, Mozambique. These experiences not only solidified his love for music, but also showed him the impact it can have on people's lives.

Today, Alberto can be found sharing his musical gifts as a member of the Malawi Defense Force Dance Band. He has also recently performed with renowned artists such as Dr Ethel Kamwendo Banda, Lloyd Phiri&The Happiness Voices, Lulu and the Kambwiri Sisters. It is clear, his talent and passion for music have opened doors for him to work with some of the best in the industry.

But for Alberto, music is not just a career - it is a way of life. He believes that music has the power to heal, inspire, and bring people together. So it's no surprise that Alberto Sax Mwale is a creative force to be reckoned with in Malawi's music scene. His journey from a young choir singer to a talented saxophonist and keyboardist is a testament to his hard work and dedication. And with his unwavering passion for music, Alberto continues to make a mark in the industry, one performance at a time.
