The Lilongwe Chief Resident Magistrate, Madalitso Chimwaza has dismissed as premature the application to discharge the extradition request for Prophet Shepherd and his wife Mary Bushiri, as the evidence was not authenticated as per the law.

The Bushiris want extradition charges brought against them by the South African government to be dropped on the grounds that the prosecution’s documents are unauthenticated.

In an interview after the court hearing, Senior State Advocate Dzikondianthu Malunda indicated that the state is happy with the ruling.

“We are happy with the ruling and we are glad that there will be progress in this matter. We hope there will be no further disruptions and that the matter will be determined on the merits," he said.

The matter will be heard again on October 10, 2023 when the witness from South Africa will testify before the Lilongwe Magistrate's Court.
