The history of the Tamil language traces back over two millennia, making it one of the oldest classical languages in the world. The Sangam literature, consisting of poems and epics, reflects the cultural, social, and philosophical aspects of ancient Tamil society, providing valuable insights into its language and civilization.

Tamil has experienced a vibrant evolution, witnessing influences from various dynasties, including the Cholas, Pallavas, and Pandiyas, who patronized its literature and contributed to its development. Over time, Tamil spread beyond its homeland in present-day Tamil Nadu, India, to regions like Sri Lanka, Singapore, and Malaysia, fostering diverse dialects and literary traditions. Today, Tamil stands as one of the official languages of India and Sri Lanka, with a vast body of literature and a global community of speakers preserving its rich✨
