I’m glad I pulled through and now halfway through the pattern. Thinking of blue glittery thread and yellow or purple sequins? We’ll see.

These body of work were inspired by the window grills and gates in Georgetown, Penang. Every time I go to Penang, I kept looking at details like tiles, grills and style of the house and shops there and thought, how do I translate them to stitches?

Being in Penang for almost two months provided me with time to walk, explore, admire all these details to create art. I took photos of them, drew them on my phone, air drawing so I remember the lines and immediately draw them in my sketch book. Otherwise, if I am in a moving vehicle, I screenshot from Google Maps, like this one. 😅

I pass by this row of shops many times to go to the hospital to visit my mother and from the hospital to KOMTAR by bus. This is all for now. Caption getting too long. ❤️
