ᴀᴀ x ᴄᴏᴇx # 10 | Chin Kok Yan

From picking up a paintbrush in retirement to building a decade-long artistic journey, Chin’s story is a gentle reminder that it’s never too late to rediscover joy.

Every Sunday, he ventures through streets, alleys, villages and mountains with his art supplies, savoring the joy of painting at a slow pace.

Over the past ten years, he has evolved from cautious, minimalist lines to a relaxed and confident brushstroke, simple in color and free from over-decoration.

More remarkably, he has rediscovered a childlike heart in his art, producing charming and playful figures along the way.

This exhibition traces his ten-year artistic journey and reveals the whimsical world within his heart—what he calls his “childlike paintings.”

In the “BEGINNING,” he picked up the brush in search of joy; through the journey, he found the childlike heart he had long lost at the “END.”
