Oldtown Recipe was founded in 2013 by the Lim’s family. We are a home-grown brand in Ipoh popular for our Salted Fish & Spicy Prawn Achar, also known locally as Acar kiam hoo or pickled salt fish & Acar har mei or pickled dried shrimps. This traditional Nyonya-Hokkien recipe was passed down by our grandmother, and what was once prepared as a home-cooked family dish, is now perfected in glass jars and made available for the enjoyment of food lovers. Our delicious achar is a perfect appetizer for your family meals. The spicy umami-laden sauce with crunchy garlic & slightly salty chunks of kurau fish or shrimps simply transform a plate of white rice into the most satisfying of meals. Crunch, chew on it and you’ll get a burst of the rich flavorful spices lingering in your mouth. Ho-Chiak! For those who cook, this is the ultimate pantry savior!
