ADDITION WITHIN 20
(USING THE “COUNTING ON ” METHOD)

The Counting On method is an addition strategy where start with the first number and then count forward using their fingers or manipulatives until they reach the total.
Example:
8 + 3 → The child starts with 8, then counts forward 9, 10, 11 using fingers.

Importance of the Activity:
✏️Helps understand the basic concept of addition in a concrete and visual way.

✏️Strengthens number recognition and sequential counting skills.

✏️Encourages hands-on learning, making the activity more engaging and meaningful.

✏️Develops early logical thinking and problem-solving skills in mathematics.

✏️Supports fine motor skill development through the use of fingers or manipulatives.
