Before you source for hose — run through these 5.

1. Correct pressure rating
Does the hose's rated working pressure exceed the system's maximum operating pressure? Account for surge pressure, not just steady-state.

2. Bend radius not exceeded
Tight bends at the fitting end are one of the most common causes of early hose failure. Check the minimum bend radius for your specific hose — and add a support bracket if needed.

3. End fittings are the right type and torque
Mismatched end fittings or under-torqued swages leak. Confirm the fitting material is compatible with both the hose and the media.

4. No torsional stress
The hose should be installed without twisting. A twisted hose under pressure is a hose that fails prematurely.

5. Movement clearance is accounted for
If the hose is bridging two components that move (pumps, vibrating equipment), make sure there's enough slack and the routing doesn't bind at operating temperature.

Simple checks. Big difference in service life.
