In order to achieve best result, first to ensure all working mechanisms are in good shape & functionality. All necessary calibrations are done on all different modes & conditions available in different map tables, allowing it to take effect on different map switching by default to suit any condition predicted by the manufacturer.

Tuning/calibrating/map editing requires calculation, logic sense, technical knowledge - how well you understand the hardware, knowing the purpose & usage, all sort of consideration, risk analysis, tolerance & consequences, imagination on driving experience, prediction of components failure, possible natural phenomenon, etc.
