【Your Life Will Definitely Leave Regrets】
Here, I want to share an article I recently read that left a deep impression on me.
At first I found it hard to accept, but I actually found it very true after some thought..
Here, I sincerely share with you:
In a quiet town lives a middle-aged man named Li Hua. When he was young, he had dreams but felt uncertain in making life choices. He witnessed some people in town chose marriage, building warm families, while others remained unmarried for various reasons until old age. Thus, Li Hua worried that marrying might mean missing out on the freedom of being single, and not marrying might lead to loneliness in old age.
At the same time, Li Hua felt lost in his career. He saw some people striving desperately for their careers, working hard to save for retirement, but he also heard of instances of early deaths. Caught in a dilemma, Li Hua didn't know whether to choose a comfortable job or to wholeheartedly go all out in for career success.
One day, Li Hua decided to take a step forward in his life. He chose to get married, believing that a family is an essential support. At the same time, he worked hard in his job, accumulating wealth to lay the foundation for his future life.
However, life often doesn't go according to plan. Li Hua's marriage did not turn out as he had wished, facing various challenges. His efforts in work did not necessarily bring lasting success, as market fluctuations and fierce competition meant that the efforts he invested might not yield corresponding returns.
As old age approached, Li Hua found himself unable to escape regrets. The challenges in his marriage and the setbacks in his career made him deeply understand the twists and turns of life. He began to reflect, realizing that regardless of the path chosen, hardships are inevitable. He understood that, no matter how one’s choose, there will always be regrets in life.
# Not marrying may mean no companionship in old age; but marrying doesn’t guarantee living to old age with your partner.
# Not working hard may result in insufficient retirement fund; but working too hard might not guarantee a long life.
# Some paths if not taken, you might feel unwilling to accept; but if taken, might filled with deeply wounded scars.
This is life; no matter how you choose, there will be regrets.
No matter how carefully you plan, it cannot withstand the arrangements of fate.
The only thing you can do is to try to minimize regrets.
Perhaps, this is the essence of life—
# everything is a gift from fate, and the only thing we can do is to try not to regret, reducing those potential regrets.
Believe that everyone's life is somewhat like this.
So, in this new year of 2024,
we don't need to compare ourselves with others,
we don't need to rush to create some impressive milestones in the new year to prove to anyone,
because no matter how hard we try, by the end of 2024, we will still have regrets.
But that's what life is all about;
# we will always have regrets to give new meaning to the new year by setting new goals.
This may be the most truest depiction of life.

【I have a friend who does household chores every day】
Once, during a gathering of friends, we discussed our respective jobs.
One friend, due to outstanding performance,
was promoted within a short year, doubling his monthly income.
Everyone was envious.
Curious about his success, we asked about his daily activities, what he learns during free time, or the books he usually reads to achieve his current success.
In reality, this friend has excelled since his school days,
so his outstanding performance in the workplace was not surprising.
We believed that his achievements today were undoubtedly attributed to discipline, hard work, and diligent learning.
We anticipated him sharing some life philosophies or workplace experiences,
but surprisingly, he didn't share any tips.
Instead, he shared an interesting turning point that changed his entire life.
It was starting to do household chores every day.
This simple routine transformed his life and improved his work significantly.
Initially, we thought he was just boasting, but he was serious.
After becoming an official employee,
his workload increased substantially.
Despite having some skills, he struggled to cope with the workload,
having to work overtime every day, and even staying up all night once just to meet deadlines.
One time, when he was handling multiple tasks simultaneously,
he accidentally mixed up the workflow,
resulting in a major mistake that caused financial loss to the company.
This left him in a state of collapse, overwhelmed by too much information and chaotic thoughts.
It turned out that even with an increased work speed,
more work awaited him, seemingly without end.
To complete his tasks, he sacrificed a significant amount of leisure time, solely focusing on work. However, this didn't make him better or faster; instead, he gradually lost entertainment and personal time.
# He realized that excessive work focus, even with more thinking time, didn't necessarily bring better results. Sometimes, excessive stress and unhappiness could even harm performances.
He even noticed that during less stressful times, when he had time for entertainment or leisure, his performance wasn't inferior to the current times.
The fundamental difference was that he found his previous life gave him more control, and
# This sense of control made him feel the value of self-existence. This sense of self-value, in turn, brought him more confidence, giving him the courage to try and challenge more difficult tasks, leading to continuous improvement.
He discovered that one activity giving him a strong sense of control was doing household chores. After a busy day of work, returning home made him feel dizzy, with many work tasks swirling in his mind, worrying about unfinished tasks. At such times, he couldn't truly find peace, nor could he relax and unwind.
Once, unable to bear the disorder at home, he started doing household chores.
Initially, he complained, but inexplicably, he felt calm later on.
When he realized he was about to finish the chores, he was no longer thinking about work issues but was seriously contemplating how to organize the space.
Doing household chores brought him back to the present, away from constant thoughts about the future's heavy workload.
He found that cleaning up chores simultaneously helped clear his thoughts, calming his mind after a busy workday.
Clearing thoughts during chores allowed effective reflection, providing self-review opportunities, rather than thinking about unfinished work every moment.
# He even discovered that simple reflection, rather than pondering what else he could do, was more effective.
All these moments of deep thinking originated from doing household chores.
He believed that the disorder at home indirectly affected his inner self. After each session of doing chores, he distinctly felt the difference in his mental state. Hence, this was the reason he could persist in doing household chores every day.
Household chores may seem trivial, but they contain life philosophies.
# They help people regain a sense of balance in the chaotic world, offering a moment of tranquility and injecting strength to continue moving forward.
This brief tranquility is precisely what people lack most in this era.
Therefore, if you can do household chores, you might be a person who can have more freedom in this era.
