Did you know? Sabah is home to more than 30 indigenous tribes who speak over 150 dialects - each with its own unique culture, traditions, and stories.
One of these communities is the Lundayeh. In their language, lun means “people” and dayeh means “upstream,” reflecting their historical roots in the interior highlands of Sabah. Today, many Lundayeh communities can be found in areas such as Sipitang, Tenom, and Keningau.
Meet Elsie, dressed in the elegant traditional Lundayeh attire known as bakad berecu. Her bright yellow headgear, called fata bau, adds a striking touch that reflects the beauty and identity of Lundayeh heritage.
