GreenSteps is a platform that help everyday people and businesses on building a zero waste township.

Your clothes don’t disappear. They become someone else’s problem.
👕 We buy, we wear, we throw away and pretend the problem is solved.

But textile waste doesn’t vanish. It arrives in massive piles, sorted by real people, fighting to keep it out of landfills and waterways.

This is what we saw at Lifeline Clothing Malaysia. The reality behind our fashion choices and habits.

In TTDI, households recycling ♻️ through GreenSteps have their textiles sent here. We're doing our part to collectively reduce landfill waste. But the truth is, we need to rethink how we consume and dispose of textiles before the pile buries us.

We partnered with to implement a key composting initiative under GreenSteps' Low-Carbon Circular Economy Blueprint.

The Blueprint is designed to address the growing issue of landfill waste while promoting a circular economy across cities and communities.

3 compost rings were set up in a school, and the results were fantastic:

📊 1.94 tonnes of garden waste diverted from landfills – reducing the strain on our waste systems.

✋ 272 kg of nutrient-rich compost harvested by hand, ready to enrich local gardens.

🌍 2.62 tonnes of CO₂ emissions avoided – an impactful contribution to tackling climate change.

This is a high-impact, easy, and affordable way for cities to begin managing organic waste.

But it’s about more than just managing waste. It’s about rethinking value, responsibility, and regeneration. Cities need to start composting now because:
1. Landfills are overflowing, and organic waste is a major contributor (almost 50% of landfill waste is made up of food waste)

2. Composting reduces our carbon footprint by cutting down methane emissions in landfills

3. A circular economy ensures that waste isn’t just thrown away – it’s turned into something valuable.

4. Composting boosts soil health and food security, creating fertile ground for local gardens, farms, and communities to thrive.

Composting is a way to build more resilient cities and there are many composting methods to choose from. The best part is that this is a replicable model that can be rolled out across Malaysia and ASEAN.

Just wrapped up a highly engaging workshop with an amazing team of corporate changemakers! 💼✨ We explored how rethinking waste isn't just about bins or recycling — it's about shifting mindsets, embracing responsibility, and building a circular future together 🌍♻️

Here’s how it went down:
1️⃣ Sustainability Challenge – Colleagues connected with each other to find green champions
2️⃣ Interactive Discussion – Challenging the convenience trap + the impact of productivity over sustainability
3️⃣ Thought Experiment – Recognising our over-reliance on convenience to imagining systems of shared resources at work 👀

✨ One parent shared how her child’s school runs a uniform-sharing program. A small green step with big impact on the environment and the wallet.

💬 Sobering moment: The realisation that what we are sacrificing in the name of convenience… is our health.

🧠 Key takeaway: Change doesn’t start with rules — it starts with reflection. When people are given space to rethink the "why" behind their actions, sustainable change becomes possible.

Keep pushing for greener workplaces and conscious choices. Get in touch with us today and let’s design an experience that inspires change 💚
