SHARIAH ADVISORY COMMITTEE (SAC) MEETING NO. 1/2026

5th May 2026 – The Shariah Advisory Committee (SAC) Meeting No. 1/2026 was successfully convened at Conference Room, SASMEC . The meeting was chaired by the Hospital Director, Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mohamed Saufi Awang, who also serves as the Chairman of the SAC.

The meeting was attended by members of the SAC, including Sahibus Samahah Prof. Dato’ Dr. Asmadi Mohamed Naim, M***i of Pahang; Prof. Dato’ Dr. Zawawi Ismail, Vice Chancellor of UniQSAAS; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Abdul Bari Awang from the Abdul Hamid Abu Sulayman Kulliyyah of Islamic Revealed Knowledge & Human Sciences; and Prof. Dr. Omar Hasan Kasule from King Fahd Medical City, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia Also in attendance were the directors (Medical, Surgical, Clinical Support and Administration).

The session brought together representatives from the Halimatussa’dia Mother’s Milk Centre (HMMC), Dr. Ainol Suraya Ismail and Prof. Dato’ Dr. Hamizah Ismail, as well as the Reproductive Unit SASMEC (RUS), represented by Dr. Nurul Yaqin Mohd Nor and Dr. Azha Syahril Azizan. Both teams presented important agenda items for deliberation, focusing on critical areas such as issues related to the milk bank and fertility management from a Shariah perspective.

In addition, the Department of Shariah Compliance tabled several key initiatives, including proposed improvements to operation theatre attire in line with Shariah requirements, as well as efforts to strengthen training for clinical staff, alongside the reporting of routine activities and Shariah-related issues from January to April.

The meeting served as a valuable platform for constructive discussion and reinforced SASMEC ’s ongoing commitment to upholding Shariah-compliant healthcare practices.
