Day 4

About three in the afternoon Jesus cried out in a loud voice, “Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?” which means, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”
The darkest moment. Not the nails. Not the thorns. This lasted for three hours, darkness covered the land. And in that darkness, the Son cried out to the Father—and heard nothing.
Silence.

The One who had never been apart from the Father bore the full weight of separation. Your sin. My sin. The wall we built. He took it.

Not because God abandoned His Son in anger. But because Jesus refused to abandon us in our sin. He became the forsaken so we would never have to be.

If you have ever felt abandoned by God—if you have prayed into silence, questioned in the dark—you are not alone. The Son of God has been there. And He went there for you.
