HR Manager (Retail, Hospitality & Customer Service Background)
Location: Kuching
Employment Type: Full Time
Reporting To: Board of Directors
About the Role
We are seeking a strong and experienced HR Manager with a solid background in retail, hospitality, or customer service industries to lead and strengthen the companyβs human resources operations and compliance practices.
This role requires a highly independent and decisive HR professional who is able to uphold professional HR standards, ensure legal compliance, and confidently advise management on employment related matters in accordance with Malaysian Labour Laws.
The ideal candidate must be hands on, firm in character, and capable of handling sensitive employee relations and disciplinary matters professionally.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the full spectrum of Human Resources functions
* Ensure company practices comply with Malaysian Employment Laws and Labour Ordinances
* Advise management and directors on HR compliance, employee relations, and risk management
* Handle disciplinary matters, misconduct investigations, and conduct Domestic Inquiries
* Develop and implement HR policies, SOPs, and best practices
* Manage employee engagement, manpower planning, recruitment, and performance management
* Provide strategic HR support directly to the Board of Directors
* Work closely with management while maintaining professional HR integrity and compliance standards
* Support operational branches and travel when required
Requirements
* Minimum 5 years of HR management experience
* Background in retail, hospitality, or customer service industry is highly preferred
* Mandarin-speaking or Chinese-speaking candidates are strongly preferred due to business communication needs
* Strong knowledge of Malaysian Employment Act and Labour Law compliance
* Experience handling Domestic Inquiry and disciplinary cases
* Strong personality with good leadership and decision making skills
* Able to professionally challenge or advise management when necessary to ensure legal compliance
* Independent, mature, and able to work under pressure
* Willing to travel and flexible with work requirements
