Job Title: QA/QC Engineer (Ship Repair)
Location: Kuala Baram
Reports To: Project Manager

Job Summary:
To ensure that all ship repair works are carried out in accordance with approved plans, specifications, and industry standards, meeting the highest quality and safety requirements. This role involves overseeing all aspects of quality control throughout the entire ship repair process.
Key Responsibilities:
* Review and Interpretation:
* Review and interpret all relevant documentation, including:
* Ship repair specifications and drawings
* Class society rules and regulations
* Client requirements and contractual obligations
* Material certifications and test reports
* Inspection & Surveillance:
* Conduct regular inspections and surveillance of all ship repair activities, including:
* Welding and fabrication processes (e.g., cutting, grinding, welding, fitting)
* Material handling, storage, and utilization
* Non-destructive testing (NDT) procedures
* Painting and coating applications
* Equipment installation and testing
* Monitor and document all inspection findings and deviations from specifications.
* Quality Control Testing:
* Oversee and witness various quality control tests, such as:
* Dimensional checks
* Pressure tests
* Hydrostatic tests
* Non-destructive tests (e.g., ultrasonic, radiographic, magnetic particle)
* Paint film thickness measurements
* Defect Reporting & Resolution:
* Identify and report all defects and non-conformances promptly and accurately.
* Work closely with the repair team to develop and implement corrective and preventive actions.
* Ensure timely closure of all identified defects.
* Documentation & Reporting:
* Prepare and maintain accurate and up-to-date quality records, including:
* Inspection reports
* Test reports
* Non-conformity reports
* Corrective and preventive action reports
* Quality control plans
* Generate regular reports on quality performance and identify areas for improvement.
* Liaison & Communication:
* Maintain effective communication with:
* Ship owners and their representatives
* Class surveyors
* Repair supervisors and foremen
* Other relevant stakeholders
* Safety & Environmental:
* Ensure compliance with all safety and environmental regulations and procedures.
* Promote a safe and healthy working environment.
Qualifications & Experience:
* Diploma or Degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or a related field.
* Minimum 2 years of experience in ship repair QA/QC.
* Strong knowledge of shipbuilding and ship repair practices.
* In-depth understanding of relevant codes, standards, and regulations (e.g., IMO, IACS, ABS, LR).
* Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications.
* Experience in conducting various types of inspections and tests.
* Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Desired Skills:
* Experience with quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001).
* Knowledge of risk assessment and hazard identification.
