To keep the moments as a teacher so that I can refer back when I am old =P
There is morning greeting time before class starts everyday. Yesterday I gathered them in a circle and asked what they feel grateful for.
"I am grateful that I am still alive"
"I am grateful that my parents are alive and be with me"
"I am grateful to be able to come to school and study"
"I am grateful with my complete body"
"I am grateful that I can wake up peacefully"
And everyone is smiling and feel contented. For students that went through a lot before in their country, things they are grateful for are their life and opportunity to learn. It is not easy. I am grateful to be with them, witness their growth and empower their life and community.
Never expect that I will be continuing my journey as a teacher.
Stepping into new environment, new classroom setting, new teaching method and new students , there are a lot of things need to unlearn and learn it
I think seeing education from different sector and different perspective will be definitely amazing
Anyhow, first task the class and assistant monitor was to establish class rules together.
I am glad that most of the students took part in it and gave their justification on what should or shouldn't do in the class.
It is amazing to see things going unexpectedly
